why flower dying ;_;
okay maybe it was worth it for the "wrong season" bit
could flower possibly be designing buildings too? that would be interesting
this was a nice episode, the pacing is a little fast but the worldbuilding is cool

Anyway, I had some high hopes for a non-competition episode and It absolutely delivired! It seems like Cary does best at writing when It's just about characters messing around for a full episode (and also when having two other writers to bounce off on, TTguy and Fusion did a great job on this too). Plus It's right under 20 minutes! Thank god. I can't stand anymore 30 minute episodes.
Seeing Gelatin and Firey, alongside icy and rocky, explore Yoylecity together is like a Dream Come True episode for me. I've liked these two together since I got into BFDI in 2021 and I was so sad when Gelatin got eliminated a few episodes ago cuz he's my season favorite. I think I would've enjoyed literally anything with these two but It helps that their interactions actually helped progress the rest of the episode's plot and wasn't complete Nothingburger.
Speaking of plot, damn there was some unexpectedly well deliviered emotional bits. BFDIA might actually make me care about Fireafy If they keep at it like this (sorry, I never liked their interactions in BFB). Some really stellar shot composition int those parts too, alongside the part where Snowball helped crank the LOL. Man BFDIA looks amazing. There's been so many beautiful new backgrounds lately, both in BFDIA and TPOT.
I do have to wonder what they'll do with everyone in the LOL. It was cute to see them try and replicate the old voices again haha. It has to be building up to IDFB I'd assume. In general this episode built up to a LOT of things I look foward too without being overwhelming personally. The tighter runtime really helped.
My only complaint is that this episode was so good I'm afraid the next one won't be able to keep up!! Hahaha. Definitely my favorite newBFDIA episode.

I have my issues with the dialogue of neo BFDIA, but I did enjoy the interactions in this one. It was fun seeing the characters bounce off each other and the events that transpired because of it. BFDI is notorious for its favortism, so having one episode focus on the other characters is a welcome change. And GOD.... 2014 me would have been over the moon if it saw that ending. I didn't care much for Firey/Leafy, but I did care for Leafy a lot. Being a Leafy fan in 2014 was quite the experience... To say the least. I'm still not won over the conflict, but at least they're tying the more important loose ends later seasons brought.
I do have to ask... What is with the Pin treatment?? I get she wasn't popular to begin with... And she was unlucky even in the older episodes. BFDIA is known for it's cruelty, but I'm just curious on this decision to double down. Did something happen in TPOT?

As far as I understand (and feel free to correct me If I forgot anything) It was due to Pin mentioning how much BFDIA sucked for her in TPOT 2. So I guess they decided to make things in BFDIA even worse to justify that statement. Maybe there's more to it but that's what I got from it.

Yeah, I can see why they would have to go out of their way to retroactively give her a point. If you were watching up to that point without the newer episodes, you would be confused given that while Pin did get humiliated, BFDIA was where she got to find friends she could actually click with. Opening up to them and mellowing out in a way that we never really got to see otherwise. I have issues with the way the show tried to execute Pin's arc in general, but I get the idea.
