Love Em! Hate Em! Unable to Eliminate Em! Hosts!!! Hosts are an Essential Part of Basically Every Object Show and I Want to Know If Anyone Has Any Particular Tropes or Character Traits That Especially Endear You to a Host? I Personally Have Always Preferred Contestants Since I Feel Like Their Stories Should Be What the Series Centers So I Was Surprised to See That I REALLY Latched Onto Two From Tpot. They're Easily One of My Favorite Characters in BFDI as a Whole and It's Because of Their Pleasant Upbeat Attitude. While I Tend to Prefer Meaner Characters, So Many Hosts Kinda Default to Snarky and Apathetic Which Makes Two's More Chipper Demeanor Super Unique and Appealing! I Do Wish They Were Used a Bit Differently in Tpot Though, We've Yet to Reach the Heights of Them Getting Their Ass Kicked in Tpot 1.

I like strange hosts (broadly-defined). Four in early BFB is the funniest host I've ever seen in a show, and I wasn't fond of the change from being incredibly strange and kind of dangerous to a fairly generic "insecure" character. I have to wonder where they got the idea for that from. He got better again for a little while when Two showed up and he chased them around like a bug.
Announcer wasn't nearly as weird, but was a lot more consistent in his level of weird, and I liked him a lot, too. Hourglass (Object Kerfuffle) is also enjoyably weird; their voice is kind of overdone, but the way they behave is entertaining.
Conversely, I feel like I gravitate towards sweeter co-hosts. I love MePad to an extent that I won't elaborate on because of how excessive it is. I liked X just as well as Four (and in the same pattern). I'm not a huge fan of "Toiletesques" as a whole, but this is probably because they all tend to be a shadow of Toilet, who seems to work for me solely on the grounds that you can tell the utmost confidence was placed in his shtick (jokes, voice acting, etc.). It's funny that the writers so firmly believed that he was funny, which ends up making him genuinely funny.
I liked MePhone a lot until III. I don't feel very good about the fact that they're going to try and finish his II2 arc with the entire III arc now inserted into the middle. Consider him not really "liked" or "disliked," but mourned as a loss. :'-)

I didn't care much about announcer until I rewatched BFDI again recently and he's a lot funnier than I remember. His amount of strange is just enough for me to enjoy. Pre-Split BFB Four is also one of my favorites. That being said, Two is lovely. I don't think about Hosts as much myself, but I'm very endeared at how down to earth they feel amongst the other contestants. It helps that they have favorites and actually develop relationships with their contestants (eg Gaty, Clock).

I Never Was a Huge Fan But I Could Atleast Admit He Was Certainly An Interesting Character and Now Im Curious Where His Story Can Even Go After iii. Are They Rehashing His Abandonment Thing AGAIN Or Just Doing His Arc As Originally Planned??

I Think the Main Thing That Keeps Me From Really Loving Hosts is That They Often Don't Have Very Appealing Dynamics With Contestants and Therefore Feel Isolated and Two is Definitely an Exception to That. Their Obvious Investment in the Personal Lives and Well Being of Their Contestants is Just Too Cute <3 <3

Consider him not really "liked" or "disliked," but mourned as a loss. :'-) i think MePhone is in his 40s so it was very funny to me when they started being like "he's quite traumatized actually, and he's abused by his father, and also this was like 2 or 3 years ago at most." like okay. i guess hes early 20s like everyone else despite sounding like he could be their dad. II is kind of an interesting case, because i have cared about it the whole time, but i've never thought it was good. i was heavily influenced by pro-bfdi culture stuff around 2017 and it gave me an overall negative opinion of II at the time, and as i've grown older it's only gotten easier to identify problems with it. the trick is that II was never good, just less confident in its incompetency. there are very few stories or arcs in the show that are carried off particularly well. frankly, MePhone's "arc" in II3 is fine. i'm more worried about the II2 contestants that seem to be locked in Cabby's shitty library now. like, they're kind of important to II2. i hope they're in II2. god i hope II2 is okay
