ALRIGHTY I've been wanting to respond to this thread for a long while but haven't gotten around to it. Here's the canon most of my object ocs follow:
In the future humans got really into bio engineering and started creating new silicone-based animals called mimics that imitated the function and appearance of everyday inanimate objects. Later down the line, a man-made virus killed off most carbon based animals, leaving the silicone ones to take their place. Eventually sapient mimics emerged and took the place of humans. Many of them try to preserve elements of past human cultures and societies as a way to show respect to the beings that created them. They revere past humans but view the modern humans that are still around mostly with fear/disgust.
As for their biology, they have flesh and blood and bones and skin and flesh and so on. Even the plant ones are just animals with chlorophyll in em. By default they're hairless, but if their based on an item that has hair or hair like structures then they'll have it. In order to most accurately replicate an object, some of them have organs that are thinner than paper but ont worry about it. dont worry about it (they have 5298074 potential health conditions)
uhhhhhhhhh other misc notes
-mimics were designed to not have finger/toe nails so that when handled by humans they wouldn't scratch
-they borrow a lot from primate dna but also from pinnipeds and dolphins. they have internal ears and genitalia as well as mammary slits.
-electronic objects can "eat" electricity and convert it into energy
-instead of having eye balls their eyes are flat disks. again to save space
As for other shows I like to assume that they're at least partially fleshy and just kinda exist without explanation. Pixar cars style. or that they're like hermit crabs or something.
