Just thought it'd be fitting to make a thread for all things identity related to object show/comic/etc media related identity as the guys with the username objectirl LOL. All sorts of experiences welcomed to talk about, such as being a fictive, otherkin, otherlink, otherhearted/otherkith/synpath, other ways of IDing as/with either a specific character or just type of character overall, sonas feeling more than just mascots/representations that can be separated from you easily, xenogender stuff, and anything else that fits a similar metric of "yeah object shows are a strong part of me on an identity basis" For us, a lot of headmates are fictives (and a majority of hosts from 2021 onwards are too), and several are fictionkin or fictionlink of various show/comic characters! Some also have kin/linktypes of anthromorphic objects in general, not a specific character.

we have sooo many object show fictives tbh... both from shows weve seen and of our own object ocs XD a lot of our headmates who know nothing about the osc have also picked object forms anyway, just bc its such a simple and easy style of character design. extremely useful when you're as polyfragmented as we are, and a lot of your alters don't really have much in terms of individual identity. they can just pick a single object they like/connect to and make themselves look like that thing  |

the main reason we are such a big nailtag shipper is because we have both a naily and a taggy and they are the gayest fucking idiots in the universe in our head all the time. and i love them
OH CAN RELATE alter relationships make us a bigger shipper at times. It's why we have Charliam as a ship ahashsb. And also why we HC Charlotte as bigender, our fictive-cohost is one! |

Ahhh this is something I think about a lot. But It's quite complicated for me to put into words, so I apologize If this doesn't make sense.
I guess I can say I do have otherkin-adjecent feelings towards objects. I refer to myself as CD online, my Sona I mainly represent myself with is a CD, I feel a kinship with my fellow CDs (I have a small but evergrowing CD collection, currently sitting in the very lower 100s). Without music I wouldn't be the person I am now. But I moreso feel general "cartoon character therianism" - My previous main sona is just a very regular toon guy. And in that case I'm more connected to being a human than anything else just in a very specific way. I'm getting off tangent. They should let me be a flash cartoon guy is what I'm saying (wether that's CD or human). What is a lot more relevant to my identity is being Objectum-Sexual and that I have been since I'm very young. Maybe I'd have to make a seperate thread on this one though, hahah!
In general I realized that I almost have a lot more fun drawing objects than anything else, which says a LOT because I LOOOOVE drawing humans (my most common warmups are just nude bodies LOL!). And my art is just an extension of myself. Slowly but surely I think anthro-objects are just becoming my "thing" and I use that term over object show fanart (even If it mostly is, as of right now) because I feel like that restricts it to a mere fanbase which It isn't to me. When I eventually lose interest in BFDI or other object shows I'd hope I don't lose my interest in objects! Like I said, I've been objectum since a young age so It's basically impossible to remove them from my identity at this point.

That's also one of the few collective traits we have, and we've also been aware of having those sorts of feelings since being a kid. It's why we gravitated towards object shows in the first place, it's easier to get attached to anthro objects if you're already enamored with real life ones. |

Oh oh, I do and have felt I am more my sega genesis controller objectsona. If i were to draw silly doodles of myself interacting with my ocs i would draw it in place of me because well, that IS me. I have a huge disconnect with my personhood and perceiving myself as kit serves as one of my many ways to deal with that. I am a sega genesis controller kitty always  I dont think my headmate Birdy would count as a fictive but a funny thing that happened is that i've unintentionally written a character a little similar to him (not really, compared to xem, he's more of just annoying than... that to me now. he is yelling at me for calling him annoying rn HAHAH), although hes a centipede, sometimes he cant help but kind of connect to xem a little now (even if he hates to admit it), which (sort of) explains our cohost(social media) pfp... whether that counts as fictive or Birdy just kins Opaline is up to interpretation (not really id say he just kins xem) |

I've been trying to present in this way that doesn't make my symptoms spike more, but still selective w/ it currently.). Hence why I have sooo many sonas, including several object ones... TBF As someone who has, also started to lose interest in object shows themselves but still retain my interest with other object characters and anything related, I need to get myself used to the term anthro-objects more because thats really what they are to me  |

I GET YOU SO MUCHH. Its exactly why most of the sonas i most connect so strongly to are all cats (or cat adjacent) seeing that I am catkin, trying to be a "human being" is just so hard man, its become more than just being a furry to me, its an illness i cant cure but I dont think I need one for it anyway, meow meow foreva and stuff. Im so sorry to hear about the people.. gr.. AND I GET THE PART WITH MULTIPLE SONAS ONE, sometimes i would be unsatisfied with sticking to one design of my fursona because i feel slight disconnection to it sometimes i decide to design different alternative versions of kit, one because designing is fun and two is because disconnection sucks even if temporary but anything to ease it  |

It's why we gravitated towards object shows in the first place, it's easier to get attached to anthro objects if you're already enamored with real life ones. I was hoping someone could relate! I've had those feelings since I was able to feel romantic feelings at all but supressed them in my teens - then I got into object shows and memories flood back. Rest is history. |
