This thread is dedicated to thoughts and small rambles that don't really warrant a whole thread in other posts. Since the Personal Threads are meant to be for rambling or talking about your personal experiences without many restrictions, I figured I might as well take full advantage of that.
One thought I have: I live in a rock when it comes to participating in any fandom or community activity. But I often forget that most object show fans weren't around for the BFDIA Hiatus days. Nor has everyone watched over 30 object shows. It's fine, everyone has their own experiences. It's just that because of it I end up assuming certain things are common knowledge. So when it comes to tropes or community related things, it gets awkward. ^^;

That said... I still don't quite know how BFDI gained a surge in popularity by the time BFB rolled around. The OSC has always been pretty niche, and at the time it felt really really small. It could just be a me thing... At the same time... The BFDIA Hiatus wasn't really an exciting or fun experience for everyone. From what I can tell, nobody looks too fondly on it... Not even the CREATORS regard it in a positive manner. I can see why they feel that way.

This might come as confusing for some people... And that's fine... But I have always seen Object Shows as being the distant cousin of 1990s/2000s flash cartoons. The early art style and humor feels very reminiscent of it, and it helps that JnJ were Homestar Runner fans. I know some of the more popular content creators look at some parts of that community in shame or disappointment. Even before Flash Cartoons got a resurgence, mind you. As someone who is very familiar with them and met a few people who were into it... I can understand why. There were a few aspects of the works and community that weren't very pretty. I don't really mean this in a bad way. Object Shows just give off the type of vibe that flash cartoons(especially the ones made by people who were younger and messing around) had. It's difficult to put it into words.

I Think They are What Made the Jump From the OSC Being a Niche (Very Autistic) Cartoon Community to Having Standards and Appeal to Larger Fandom I FORGOT ABOUT FOUR AND THE IMPACT THEY HAD. I always associate the impact 4 had on how hosts and non-object characters would be written. I admit I'm not too deep into the whole host thing, especially the number people.

It's been 4 years, and I still don't really know why people hated Two a lot?? I don't really pay attention to hosts in general... And it's been a while since I watched BFB... But I very clearly remember Two being the least egregious part of that episode. I suppose it's making Four cry? I very distinctly remember not finding BFB funny or engaging so the episode was a dealbreaker for me. Still, I get personal preference, but I never really got what was going on in regards to Two existing.
Two did surprise me, because barring a few cases like Nickel(I think? I don't know), BFDI never really had any long distance voice actors? XanyLeaves was working on the bigger projects by then... It's just that at the time BFDI's voice cast consisted of the Huang Brothers and their close distance friends? Correct me if I'm wrong here. A good portion of object shows have to resort to using the same 10 voice actors given that nobody can really pay for a professional one(even modern BFDIA has to use minor guest characters instead). But this was BFDI, so it was a bigger deal to me. It does remind me of those times certain object shows decided to hire non-OSC members to voice act. Remember MePad? (good lord)

It does remind me of those times certain object shows decided to hire non-OSC members to voice act. Remember MePad? (good lord) Inanimate Insanity has been doing this for a while now. Their "non-OSC" voice actors seem to come in one of two categories; non-OSC friends of OSC members, and completely outsider hires. For example, in S2E13, Steve Cobs is voiced by Peter Mancuso; Mancuso is a friend of Brian Koch's, but not an OSC member. On the other hand, in S3, Springy is voiced by Zuwie LeFou, who was seemingly discovered simply by searching for voice actors in a more conventionally professional sense. I can make a more complete list of both categories if it's of some interest to you. =P One could argue that some hires in the latter category have become part of the OSC. I won't deny that they're "here," but in the case of those who replaced roles that had previously been occupied by different voice actors, I can't say I'm fond of what's become of their respective characters. This is not strictly their own faults--there is a degree to which the existing writers are responsible for making sure that characters are presented consistently, sensibly, etc. Interestingly, Inanimate Insanity has parted with ways with more than one non-OSC voice actor. You already mentioned Beatrice (MePad), but there was also AnimatedJames (Steve Cobs). After these, I thought they might have second thoughts about inviting random cartoon-adjacent YouTubers into their series, but it doesn't seem like that's the case. Only time will tell whether they live to regret putting Saberspark in.

I stopped watching after episode 10, barring that one episode with the floor that sucked.

I know Object Shows are poorly documented across Wikis and TV Tropes... But it has surprised me that nobody has made a Broken Base subpage for Inanimate Insanity. The discourse around II can get pretty intense. Even during the time of II2, there was a lot of debate on whether or not II2 becoming more serious was for the best. Not to mention everything with Meeple??? The changes II made has brought a lot of debate. I wasn't able to follow the news as II2 came out. But I very distinctly remember II's fanbase being pretty volatile. I know people have mixed feelings on TV Tropes, but I feel II's page doesn't really reflect the various lengths the fanbase is willing to go.

The more I watch TNM, the more I realize... Sketchpad isn't a good character. And pretty annoying. I get the idea behind zym: cher is meant to an immature, young partner in training who approaches situations with an optimistic mindset. With the tragedy shattering that worldview. That's not a bad idea at all!
Thing is, their design and scenes only hinder the tone of the show rather than benefit it.. A lot of the serious scenes get hampered because zey keeps butting in with their overeager quips. Seriously, the BFDI fanboy sthick wasn't really a good idea. I feel there could have been a better way to convey that death is permanent than blurting out "oh no! if only recovery centers were real!".
I also really don't understand the decision to base this guy off a random mook from a show one of your friends made. If its because of Sketchpad being the only new main character in the show, then that's a pretty flimsy reason to do so.
I actually don't know if TNM was planned from the start to have 2 parts. If that's the case, the show really didn't do a good job getting the idea across. Contrast with what we're shown in chapter 1, Sketchpad's motivations feels more like an afterthought than anything. I could say that for a lot of things in the show, really.

I saw a certain object show's page get the voice actors very, very wrong(it was copy pasted from the wiki, which is also inaccurate). The show isn't too popular either, and once the creator stopped working on the wiki activity just.... Stopped.
I can't really contribute to any of the FANDOM Wikis(for reasons)... But I do remember the PPT2 wiki had it really bad before it got new management. It barely updated over the course of the 8+ years the series was running, which became a serious problem once the show became more and more popular. Only just recently are people making efforts to keep everything up to date. So this is par for the course of anything that isn't BFDI.
I do work on Paper Puppets' TV Tropes page, so there's that.

I have a lot of problems with Journal(Paper Puppets)'s story... But to be honest, I don't really have much of an issue with the TC-Journal conflict lasting about 3 episodes. You can only make so many arguments with the situation before it gets exhausting. Closure would be appreciated, but also I wouldn't be surprised if these two just never forgave each other. That being said, there is a way to expand on the idea and make their dynamic even better... But the world isn't ready for what I have to offer. v_v
(There's how it was set up, but you can say that about everything relating to the overarching plot.)

Yeah, I feel similar about sketchpad, especially since embers and the TDOS x TNM short fusion made alongside it. Implying that she's from TDOS doesn't make me think "wow cool Sketchpad is from another universe" I just think wow, great job on connecting your "serious" object show to TDOS. Like it's not already tonally a mess.
